Vaporizers at the High Times Cannabis Cup 2011
Albeit somewhat overshadowed by a police raid on Wednesday, last week the 24th annual High Times Cannabis Cup took place in the outskirts of Amsterdam at the Borchland convention center. Vaporizer-info was there from Sunday until Tuesday and we were happy to see a handful of booths dedicated to the technique of vaporization. Below is a short overview of all vaporizer-related exhibitors that were present at the expo.
The French folks of Herborizer demonstrated their various glass vaporizers (with some excellent Kosher Kush - courtesy of DNA Genetics).
If you haven't heard of the Omicron vaporizer, you soon will! This e-cig shaped vaporizer utilizes cartridges that can be filled with any type of oil or extract (ie budder, BHO) for your vaporizing pleasure. This portable vape delivers pure and efficient hits, making the Omicron an absolute must-have for all oil-enthusiasts.
Vapir presented their NO2 portable vaporizer and drew quite a few visitors who were new to the game of vaporizing. Always good to see people being informed on the benefits of vaporizing!

And last, but certainly not least, comes Vaporfection, who demonstrated (and won the first prize with Product of the Year) the much anticipated viVape.
This dual-mode vaporizer was scheduled to be released early November, but production issues (?) have caused a delay of several weeks. The current release date is set for early-mid December. Luckily, several fully functional units were available for use at the Cup. Our first impression is quite positive, the viVape seems to excel in both functionality and vapor quality. However, there seems to be room for improvement in terms of power consumption and vapor 'leakage'. Time will tell if these glitches are fixed in the final release.
We're much looking forward to getting an actual unit in our hands for a more in-depth review.
Vaporfection's first portable vaporizer (the miVape) is in the final stage of production, but was not yet available for demonstration purposes at the Cup. According to a rep it is planned for release before the end of this year.
More images of the viVape can be found on our Facebook page. We also shot a video of the viVape in action:
Despite the police intervention, the show was great fun, with a great atmosphere all around. Whether or not the event will continue in its current format remains to be questioned, as unfortunately cannabis laws in the Netherlands are becoming increasingly less liberal.
