This is actually a pretty good vape. I tried it at my friend's, and while being skeptical at first (not a vapir fan) the Vapir Rise surprised me in a positive way. The valve system works quite well and the materials are of good quality. I'd recommend it over the Extreme Q.

VapirRise review

By andy hill on 22-01-2015

I've had my vapirrise for a couple months now. To be honest it took my a while to get the heat and air to work at top function. Just love the machine,my only problem is the is the balloon valve leaks air not air tight then when you apply the single user attachment its Evan worse . But don't get me wrong it still works good but mine could be a little better without the air leaks .

Aesthetics/Looks (how does it look, including packaging etc. is it easy to conceal/stealthy?)
The VapirRise comes in a sturdy and well designed box with color graphics on the outside. All of the accessories are neatly packaged and protected. The unit itself looks quite futuristic, using a combination of metallic silver, matte black and blue LED lights. When switched on, it almost looks like a UFO or something from a science fiction movie. It looks very cool in a dark room, although personally I would have liked the design to be slightly ’toned down’. The futuristic look of the VapirRise is likely to draw attention, so this is definitely not a stealthy vaporizer. I also found the VapirRise to be slightly bulkier than similar vapes on the market (although not as large as a Volcano).

Vapor & Taste (taste - Is there a silicon or plastic taste? - and potency of the vapor produced)
When the unit was heating up the first few sessions, I did notice a slight plastic smell from the unit, but this went away quickly. The plastic smell wasn’t excessive, and I feel this was just the normal ‘new plastic’ smell that most new products have when they are fresh from the factory. I tested the VapirRise in the bag-fill mode, as well as the optional direct-draw mode. For those who enjoy bags, the VapiRise’s bag-fill mode works similarly well to the Volcano. The direct draw mode also works nicely, comparable with units such as the Extreme-Q/V-Tower, Da Buddha. My only complaint is the VapirRise can take longer than expected to produce visible vapor, even on the higher temperature settings. Usually the first inhale/bag or two would be quite wispy, it seemed like the unit was slightly underpowered and needed a while to ‘prime’ itself to get hot enough.

Efficiency (how well does it extract active compounds from herb, is there a chance of combustion?)
As mentioned, the VapirRise can take a while to reach vaporisation temperatures, as though it needs extra time to build up a thermal mass. Generally the first bag or two were quite wispy. After vaporizing, the herb seemed a little under-extracted, only reaching a golden/yellowish color even on high temperature settings. There is absolutely no chance of combustion, but if anything I felt the heater is a bit underpowered. I did also notice some vapor leakage around the bowl section, so unfortunately I would rate the efficiency quite low.

Ease of use (is it easy to use the vaporizer? is there a learning curve?)
I found the bowl and bag attachments are a bit fiddly. The way the pieces screw into each other is not always clear, and I did often find myself fumbling around with the pieces, especially in low-light. There is quite a few steps in filling the bowl, and attaching the bag. Once the bag is filled, the mouthpiece has a small switch allowing you to ‘close’ the bag, preventing vapor from escaping. This is better than nothing, but it would have been better with a valve, making the switch unnecessary. There is already quite a few steps involved with filling a bag, and the valve switch adds another step. This ‘fiddly’ issue of the VapirRise would diminish over time as the user gets more familiar with it, but it this does give a definite learning curve. However, once the unit is setup correctly it’s very easy to use. The temperature control and other buttons are large and clear, and the bright blue LCD screen shows the current temperature and various other information.

Durability

The VapiRise seems quite durable and well constructed for the price. The unit feels solid and seems to be made from good quality materials. Although there is a lot of plastic used in the design, this does make it durable. This is especially true for the accessories like the bowl, mouthpieces etc. which can be especially fragile if made from glass. All the VapirRise parts and accessories are made from quality plastic and stainless steel, so are extremely durable.

Conclusion

The VapirRise is quite adaptable and produces nice vapor once it gets going. The price is good for a dual-function vaporizer that can fill bags or do direct-draw. In some aspects, the VapirRise is up there with the competition (Extreme-Q, Herbalaire etc). The build quality and packaging is good. But overall, I did have a few problems with the function of the VapirRise. The main issue for me was the underpowered heater, which often struggled to produce visible vapor until the second or third bag/inhale. My other major complaint was that the bowl/bag/mouthpiece attachments are not so user friendly, I found the design a bit overcomplicated. Loading the bowl and filling a bag is not as easy as other models, as there are quite a few steps and various pieces involved. But keeping these few points in mind, the VapirRise could be worth considering for someone on a budget, as an entry level home vaporizer. The dual-functionality is also a great advantage, allowing users to experiment with direct-draw and bag fill modes out of the box.
