WISPR Vaporizer VS the Arizer Solo
In an article posted earlier we compared Arizer's popular portable vaporizer, the Solo, to the Vapir NO2 and Magic-Flight Launch Box. With the WISPR vaporizer available for some time, we thought now is a good time to compare these two portables against eachother.
While we still believe that there is no best vaporizer, we hope this comparison can help you decide which vaporizer caters best to your needs. In the end, it all depends on personal preferences, making it important to realize in which situations and how frequently you will be using your vaporizer.

Differences
The most notable difference between the WISPR and the Solo lies in the power source. The WISPR uses butane to function, whereas the Arizer Solo is powered by a built-in, rechargeable lithium battery. If you run out of gas for your WISPR you can easily refill it, provided you bring a can of (purified) butane along. The WISPR runs off one tank of butane for about 2 hours. The Solo battery lasts 3-6 hours, depending on the temperature setting.
Size and Concealability
Draw. The WISPR measures about the dimensions of a small juice pack, with the flexible tube resembling a straw. The Solo is shaped more like a thin soda can. Both vapes are easy to hold in your hand and can used without raising too much suspicion, although the glass tube of the Solo is slightly more difficult to conceal. The WISPR could sit in a shirt pocket, with the user pretending to take a sip from his pack of juice.
Overall, the Solo has a more ergonomical feel, but the format of the WISPR allows it to sit in your (shirt) pocket easier. However, when it comes to stealth, the WISPR has one major drawback: the hissing sound of the thermostat when it is heating up. This could definititely raise some suspicion when you're at the theatre. The Solo produces no sound at all.
I'd say this is a draw. If stealth is important to you, you might want to go for the Solo.
Temperature / Heat up Time
Solo wins. The WISPR functions at a constant temperature of about 374 degrees Fahrenheit (190°C), and needs about a minute and a half to heat up. The Solo can be used at 7 different temperature settings, ranging from 122°F ( 50°C) at setting 1 to a maximum temperature of 410°F (210°C) at setting 7. Most cannabis users will prefer setting of 3 or 4. Reaching this temperature takes a little less than 2 minutes.
A small difference when it comes to warm up times, but the Solo has the benefit of being able to control the temperature, which is a plus.

Vapor Taste and Quality
Solo wins. When it comes to taste, the Solo arguably delivers superior taste. The WISPR seems to suffer from some kind of plastic taste, possibly caused by the silicon tube combined with the somewhat warmer air that flows through it. Some Solo users report a slightly less pleasant taste at first, but this seems to fade after initial use. Based on our own experience we would say that the glass tube was a great decision from the developers at Arizer and is responsible for much purer taste.
When it comes to thickness of the vapor, it is again the Solo that takes the lead. While the WISPR performs better than its predecessor, the IOLITE Original, it is not as thick and flavourful as that of the Arizer Solo.
Conclusion
Both vaporizers perform quite well, each having their own pros and cons. While some vaporists will prefer the WISPR because of its ability to refill the butane tank at any time, others may prefer a chargeable battery and the ability to change the temperature setting. Moreover, the Solo makes a great vape for home-use when you purchase the power adapter.
These vaporizers are extremely easy to use and require virtually no learning curve, which is a great step forwards in convincing people to start vaporizing. And while novice users may fall for the appealing retro look and colors of the WISPR, vaporizer veterans would likely prefer the Solo because of its durability and additional features.
Both vapes have the same price tag, making it even more important to base your decision on personal preferences. I'd say that at this time the Solo offers more value for your money.
