iolite vaporizer

Vaporisateur - avis

Vaporisateur avis: iolite

By Vaporizer Info on 28-04-2011

Conclusion

iolite

By VapeBreeze on 23-06-2010

Took me a while to get used to this thing. Thought it was a bust at first, but after using it for a week...I LOVE IT! I use half as much herb as I did before with a glass pipe. Definitely makes up for the price with the money you save on herb. And the freedom of the iInhale is amazing. You can vape in the movie theater, at a bar, on the bus, pretty much anywhere! There is absolutely no detectable smell to the vapor that is exhaled. The vapor tastes amazing. There is nothing like it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has to be stealthy about their herb usage.

iolite review

By Anne on 29-01-2011

I bought an Iolite about 4 months ago and I just love it. It's easy to use and really portable, it looks like a walkie talkie or a phone so I have no problem using it anywhere. It's easy to clean and the effect is very clean. Some of my friends can't get used to not having smoke to blow out, but for me it's clean and cough free and I use much less herbs. Enjoy!

iolite Vaporizer Review

By Vaporizer Info on 21-04-2011

The iolite vaporizer was the first portable – butane powered – vaporizer. It measures the size of an average mobile smartphone and weighs only 81 grams.

What’s in the box?

Included:

- carrying case
- cleaning device
- maintenance tool
- moisture condenser
- extendable mouthpiece
- 7 dot herb chamber screen
- replacement heater mesh screen
- instruction manual

As of 2011, the manufacturer, Oglesby & Butler, offers an additional part called the ‘optimizer’. It is however not included with the vaporizer. This is a little metal plate with three small pins that goes inside the herb chamber. It is meant to create more air space inside the filling chamber to allow for bigger, more flavorful hits.

Butane gas is also not included. Make sure you use only purified gas! A good way to find out if the brand of butane you are using contains impurities is to spray some butane onto a mirror. If any residue remains after 5 minutes the gas is not suitable.

Looks

Straight from the box, the iolite looks very sleek and compact. It is available in 9 different colors, excluding some limited edition colors.

When picking it up, I must admit that the unit itself feels a bit cheap and not very solid because of all the plastic.

Previously, problems with plastic tubing that melted have occurred, and for that reason the mouthpiece is now made of metal.

Functionality

To open and fill the vaporizer, the top (where the stem is attached) can simply be taken off. Reattaching it is easy, as you can pop it right back on. Filling the iolite with herb can be done in seconds, especially when you have some pre-ground herb ready.

The advertised loading capacity of the bowl is .5 gram, but in reality the iolite holds about .25 grams of grinded herb. Which is still not bad since vaporization is much more efficient than smoking. Once loaded it is time to let it heat up.

After turning it on it automatically starts to heat up to the fixed temperature. The thermostat can be heard hissing during heat-up. The thermostat cycles it on/off, and you hear it a little after turning it off, as it dissipates the butane that's already been dispensed. The sound is not disturbing however, and during a concert or at a movie theater it would be very hard to notice.

A few minutes after turning it on you’re ready to inhale. The hits are very decent for a portable vape and the temperature seems to be accurate – no burning at all. Using the mouthpiece extension allows for the vapor to cool down even more. It does make things a bit less stealthy however.

Conclusion

The iolite is a great vape for on the road. The only con is the build quality: from a company that has been in the field of heat-controlled portable units for over 25 years, you’d expect a product that is slightly more durable.

iolite vaporizer review

By August West on 28-06-2011

When I first got my Iolite I WAS very impressed. I loved it and although the whole quality butane thing was a huge hassle it still was a very cool portable vape. It looks like a walkie talkie or some sort of radio and as long as you handle it with confidence it is very discreet. The flavor was good for those first couple hits especially but then goes down considerably. You have to clean it regularly to keep it working good but that wasn't too hard with some q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. I even got a couple extra bowl attachments to have pre loaded if I took it in to a show or something. I was on the Iolite bandwagon BIGTIME.

and then.......

After about 9 months of use with meticulous care and love my Iolite stopped working. I was BUMMED out but thought that would be no problem what with the warranty and all. WELL I WAS WRONG. I had bought my iolite of someone on ecrater for a fair price I thought....seemed liked a legit dealer and all. Iolite refused to honor their stated warranty claiming it was not from a registered dealer. Talk about fine print and very poor customer service. It was still their product and I had bought it legitimately. Even so I still needed it FIXED. Fine please let me send it in for REPAIR at least right....at my expense even. NO SIR. Sorry we do not have the capacity to offer repair of our units outside of warranty claims which it turns out we really don't like to honor anyways. So basically enjoy your Cool looking "paperweight" and feel free to purchase another unit at an authorized dealer and hey just wait for our new even better product the Whispr. SORRY! You LOST me as a reliable customer Iolite. I had purchased numerous replacement parts from you...(yes your plastic stems become brittle after awhile) and had recommend your product to lots of friends....3 of whom bought units after my recommendations. NO MORE.
I ended up buying a MFLB and I do like that and it has it's uses but I did still miss my Iolite when it was working. However MFLB has an incredible customer service and LIFETIME GUARANTEE of their product. It's a differerent beast all together. I have found my NEW FAVORITE PORTABLE VAPORIZER.

CHECK OUT the ARIZER SOLO....a brand new offering from a company in Canada. Apparently this thing has been in development for some years now and is finally available now. Check out the forums on FC to see some great reviews. So far I have been very impressed. I just got it yesterday and I am way more excited about it than I EVER WAS WITH THE IOLITE.....even when I was on the bandwagon big time. It's just a very cool unit.

It's nice to have some options with portable vapes nowadays.

iolite vaporizer review

By Paul on 22-07-2011

Overall a very stealthy and effective butane powered vaporiser!
Pros: portable; small enough to fit in any pocket; no power cables; ignites via piezo-electricity (no external lighting source needed); heating circuit completely separate from herbal chamber (pure taste, no gas); reasonably fast pre-heating time (2mins); produces high quality vapour.
Cons: expensive; doesn't work at altitude above 1500m amsl; single temperature (190deg C), therefore poor CBD vapourisation; too hot for many legal herbs; noisy; plastic mouth piece can break; can't keep in pocket while heating (needs oxygen, gets hot and damp)

I understand the Iolite vaporizer is a smokeless portable vaporizer but i dont like it at all. It DOES NOT get the job done. therfore if anyone were to get a vaporizor id reccomment the volcano. it hits like a champ. also i like the smoke effect. they could drop the price a little but other then that its very cool. Although ive never used any other vaporizor. But in my collection of roors i have 2 green labeled beaker bottom n flat bottom both 16mm i have yet to get a 18mm but i am very interested in this new RooR vap
