The Ghost MV1 is a striking looking battery powered convection portable vaporizer.
The Ghost MV1 is a wild looking portable vape that offers an amazing desktop like convection vaping experience. It’s not without it’s quirks but it’s a very impressive piece of kit. Especially bearing in mind that this is Ghost’s first offering. It’s a solid recommendation for someone wanting a connoisseur vaping experience in a portable package. Preloaded “crucibles” allow for fast changing on the go and can even accommodate concentrates.

Ghost MV1 User Friendliness
Everything about the Ghost MV1 is different. Some aspects work well but some take a little to get used to – though they are not deal breakers.

– Loading
Once you have pre-loaded your ceramic crucibles loading is relatively easy. The metal cover on the crucible can move around a bit making loading more fiddly than it could be. Those with large fingers or reduced dexterity may find this frustrating. The experience would be improved if the cover somehow stayed fast in place once loaded with herb.

– Setting Temperature
Here’s where you seriously need to hit the instructions. Temperature has six presets – which are indicated by LEDs. You have up to three amber LEDs for herb and up to three red LEDs for concentrates. To adjust the presets you need to install the Ghost MV1 app. For someone who likes to adjust the temperature during use and hates having to rely on an app I was a bit disappointed.

– Ease of Use
There are two buttons to operate the Ghost MV1 – mode and vape. Mode activates the vape from sleep and allows you to check the battery charge and switch temperatures. You’ll need the instructions to figure out the method for this as it is far from intuitive. Once mastered it’s easy. To take a hit you simply press and hold the “vape” button. It makes a sci-fi like whine as the button is pressed. Once you know the process it is very easy to use. The MV1 then buzzes to let you know when you can draw.

Ghost MV1 Performance
The performance is where the quirky user friendliness issues are completely forgiven. Not only does it perform well it seems to be very efficient in the amount of herb you need to get a satisfying cloud. It is worth factoring in the money that you will safe on buying dried herbs to justify the high end price.

– Heating time
What heating time? Press and hold the vape button – after a couple of seconds you receive a haptic feedback buzz that lets you know you can take your draw. The higher the temperature the longer the wait but you are talking seconds here.
– Vapour Quality
I could fill this section with one word – incredible. The Ghost MV1 produces wonderfully clean tasting clouds of vapour that are so cool you can keep drawing way longer than is possible with other portable vapes on the market.

Ghost MV1 Build Quality
The Ghost MV1 is solid. It has a satisfying weight to it. It maybe a bit hefty for out and about. Buttons have a good feel and there is no rattle when jiggled. One issue I have is that despite it’s weight it can be unstable unless placed on a perfectly flat surface. A slightly larger footprint would help out here. This is more a design issue than a build quality issue.

Ghost MV1 Maintenance and Cleaning
The Ghost MV1 battery pack can be removed. Be aware this does not mean that it has removable batteries that can be replaced. You must purchase a Ghost MV1 specific battery pack. Depending on your usage you could well want to pick up a second battery pack and Ghost MV1 fast charger. So you always have a charged pack ready to go.

As the ceramic crucibles and glass mouthpiece can be removed cleaning is easy. I recommend purchasing the Ghost MV1 crucible dispenser as it makes refilling on the go a lot easier.

Ghost MV1 Value For Money
At time of writing the Ghost MV1 is €285 which puts it in a similar price band to the popular Mighty and quite a bit less than a Firefly 2. This makes it a reasonable price for a device that can vape herb and concentrates using convection.

Who Is It Good For?
The Ghost MV1 is perfect for someone who is looking to buy just one vape. It provides excellent vapour quality that is up there with the best. It is portable – in that it uses batteries – but I would not describe it as a stealth vape. You could take it out when you go for a quick walk. However, it’s a bit on the heavy side to carry around in your jacket pocket all day without looking like a shoplifter. If you buy the very pocketable crucible dispenser (which I recommend) you could do most of the prep work before you head out making loading on the go a snap.

- Exceptional convection vapour quality
- Crucible loading system allows for pre-loading
- Easy to clean
- Changeable battery pack
- Reasonable price (for convection vape)
